As a Busperson/Runner at Hilton Portland Downtown, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of guest service and satisfaction in the food and beverage department. This is a fast-paced position that demands attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and a proactive approach to assisting servers and guests. The role involves preparing dining areas, setting and clearing tables, transporting food and beverage orders, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the dining spaces. Additionally, you will operate the POS system for sales transactions, assist with cashier duties, and support inventory management and restocking tasks. This position requires a team-oriented individual who can adapt to varied shift schedules including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The Busperson/Runner position is compensated at a competitive rate of $16.30 per hour plus tips, reflective of specialized experience and local market standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months customer service experience
- Six months food and beverage experience
- Ability to communicate in English
- Flexible scheduling availability including weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Basic knowledge of inventory and stock management
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Set and prepare dining tables including folding napkins and placing tableware
- Use POS system to create sales checks and perform cashier duties
- Prepare and collect items for multiple orders including condiments and paper supplies
- Serve guests with beverages and replenish as necessary
- Assist servers with food and beverage service to ensure guest satisfaction
- Carry bags up to 30 lbs and deliver orders to guests courteously
- Transport dirty tableware to dishwashing area for cleaning
- Assemble food orders inspecting for completeness including food, beverages, condiments, and paper products
- Clean and restock storage areas, rotate and maintain inventory levels
- Return condiments and equipment to proper storage
- Respond to guest questions and provide assistance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all guest service areas
- Perform general cleaning tasks as assigned
- Take inventory using inventory sheets
- Set up order bags including beverages and condiments
- Retrieve food from kitchen when ready
- Deliver orders to rooms or guests
- Cover other stations during co-worker breaks
- Maintain fridges stocked with beverages and supplies
- Report guest concerns and communicate with management for follow-up
