Located in Albany, NY, Southern Glazer’s is currently seeking a full-time Sales Consultant who will play a critical role in representing the company in the market. The Sales Consultant position offers a competitive compensation package with first-year total earnings anticipated between $65,000 and $80,000 annually, including incentives and an auto allowance or reimbursement. The company evaluates each candidate's education, skills, and experience to determine final offers accordingly.
The Sales Consultant serves as an innovative and self-motivated team member with a strong business-oriented and customer-focused mindset. This role involves face-to-face consultative selling, which is central to building trusting relationships with customers and suppliers. The consultant is responsible for visiting customers, engaging in meaningful sales conversations, and driving revenue growth through consultative and solution-oriented selling techniques. Success in this role depends on the ability to analyze business data, understand customer needs, and tailor product offerings to meet those needs effectively.
This position demands a proactive approach, as the Sales Consultant must prepare for account visits by developing detailed customer growth plans and sales pipelines aimed at increasing incremental sales beyond base business. Regular interaction with accounts, astute use of CRM tools to document visit notes, and strategic planning are integral components of the role. Additionally, the consultant must maintain a thorough knowledge of Southern Glazer’s extensive product portfolio, skillfully positioning products to maximize impact and meet supplier objectives.

Job Requirements
- 21 years or older
- must possess a reliable vehicle a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance on their vehicle in compliance with SGWS company requirements
- able to leverage SGWS technology to perform duties and responsibilities
- able to consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances
- able to take responsibility for own actions and results commits to providing a consistently high level of service to customers suppliers colleagues and management
- able to be nimble in ambiguity be open to change embrace innovative ideas
- able to travel as needed
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- proficient in using mobile devices e.g. iPad smartphone and online communication techniques email posting texting etc in a professional manner
- able to analyze and understand data and information
- able to build and structure customer presentations and product proposals
- able to communicate effectively through various methods and express self clearly and concisely while appropriately tailoring the message to the audience
- team player works collaboratively with others
- able to work in a fast paced results driven environment
Job Duties
- build positive credible lasting customer relationships based on trust
- discover and identify customer business growth needs
- develop a customer business growth plan for each account and build a pipeline of selling opportunities to drive incremental sales above base business
- analyze data and insights to increase sales grow customer business and better achieve objectives
- regularly and consistently pre-plan account visits with an agenda service purpose and selling opportunities documented in CRM proof
- prioritize sales activities to achieve objectives based on each customer business growth plan
- visit accounts regularly capture visit notes and build visit plans considering previous visit outcomes and document in CRM proof
