Job Description

Mammoth Mountain is a premier ski resort located in the majestic Sierra Mountains of Mammoth Lakes, California. As a top destination for winter sports and mountain adventures, Mammoth Mountain offers not only world-class skiing and snowboarding but also a vibrant community that fosters both work and play. The resort is part of the Alterra Mountain Company portfolio, providing employees with exclusive access to a network of resorts. This employment opportunity is perfect for those who love the outdoors and want to embrace the beauty and excitement of mountain living while earning competitive wages.

This seasonal position offers an hourly pay rate ranging from $24.75 to $29.24, reflecting the value placed on skilled and committed transit bus drivers who contribute to an outstanding guest experience. As a transit bus driver for Mammoth Mountain during the upcoming summer season, you will play a crucial role in transporting guests safely and efficiently to and from various lodges, hotels, and nearby destinations. This role provides a unique chance to work in one of the most picturesque environments in the country, with a variable schedule that typically includes four days a week with shifts up to 10 hours, leaving three days off to enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Sierra Nevada range.

Beyond the driving responsibilities, the role includes essential maintenance tasks such as DMV-required inspections, handling paperwork, fueling, fluid checks, and ensuring cleanliness of the vehicles. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations concerning drug and alcohol use, emphasizing safety for both guests and employees. The resort values professionalism and guest service, so candidates who are outgoing, courteous, and able to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and management will thrive in this role.

Mammoth Mountain employees also benefit from a comprehensive package that supports both work-life balance and financial well-being. This includes free skiing privileges not only at Mammoth Mountain but across all Alterra Resorts, ski passes for dependents, equipment rental discounts, and ski/snowboarding lesson discounts. Additional perks such as friends and family vouchers, retail and food discounts, and a 401(k) plan with company match further enhance the employee experience. This employer also offers potential training for those who do not currently hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL), making it an accessible opportunity for qualified and motivated individuals.

Overall, working at Mammoth Mountain is more than just taking a seasonal job; it is an opportunity to live an active and adventurous lifestyle while delivering essential transportation services that help guests make the most of their mountain experience. Whether you are an experienced driver looking to join a reputable company or someone eager to develop your skills in a dynamic setting, this role provides a fulfilling and financially rewarding summer position in a stunning mountain environment.
