Job Description
Navarro College is a reputable community college committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities to students in its service area. With a mission centered on student growth and educational achievement, the college fosters an inclusive environment that supports personal development alongside academic goals. As a community-focused institution, Navarro College actively engages with local communities, school districts, and other organizations to enhance the educational and cultural experiences of its students and residents. The college operates numerous programs and services designed to encourage lifelong learning, community involvement, and career readiness, ensuring students have access to a supportive and resource-rich environment as they navigate their educational journeys.
The Bulldog Life department at Navarro College plays a vital role in enriching the student experience by offering a variety of events and programs aimed at engagement, personal growth, and community building. Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Bulldog Life and TRIO, the position supports the mission to provide students with valuable opportunities to grow personally while pursuing their academic goals. This role involves assisting in the planning and execution of events such as Kid's College, Operation Bulldogs Serve, and Bulldog Orientation. These events cater to a wide demographic, from young children to older adults, reflecting the department's commitment to inclusivity and community outreach.
The position requires serving as a group leader and event guide, overseeing participants ranging from ages 5 to 90. The individual will work closely with Navarro College faculty and staff, acting as a teaching assistant during events to ensure smooth operation and participant engagement. Responsibilities include leading interactive activities, assisting in event setup and clean-up, and maintaining the safety and well-being of all event participants from start to finish. Given the dynamic nature of community events, the role demands excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a busy environment, and a willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and occasional weekends.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about community engagement, education, and student development. It offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the college's mission while gaining valuable experience working in a diverse and vibrant educational setting. The successful candidate will be committed to the philosophies of community college education and demonstrate the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. This position provides a unique opportunity to support a wide range of educational and community events, making a positive impact on participants of all ages and backgrounds.
