With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a culture deeply rooted in safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. The company emphasizes empowering its employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make informed decisions that contribute to the overall success of their teams and the organization. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from the extensive reach and expertise of its parent company which serves over 4 million customers and patients worldwide across 60 countries with about 66,500 employees.
The Bulk Driver position at Airgas in South Saint Paul, Minnesota, offers an exciting opportunity for those seeking a stable yet dynamic career in the transport and logistics sector. This role primarily involves the delivery of ammonia products to local customers either on scheduled routes or through intermittent assignments. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures due to the hazardous nature of the cargo. The Bulk Driver is responsible for accurately recording deliveries and pickups on load manifests, obtaining customer signatures for proof of receipt, and responding to customer inquiries and service needs with professionalism and attentiveness.
Working with an advanced, modern fleet equipped with driver-friendly technology including On Board Computers, collision avoidance systems, and advanced camera technology, the Bulk Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring that the transportation of sensitive and hazardous cargo is executed efficiently and safely. This role involves active collaboration in loading and unloading procedures, performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to document any deficiencies, and maintaining excellent vehicle and personal appearance standards.
This role is well-suited for individuals who are safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and capable of managing the physical demands of the job, which includes frequently bending and lifting heavy loads of 60 pounds or more. Drivers can expect a typical 55-hour workweek with paid overtime after 40 hours, including double time for work performed on Sundays and holidays. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work, and involves occasional overnight stays one to two times per month. The company promotes collaborative scheduling to support team flow, ensuring morning start times and predictable hours.
In return for their commitment and skills, drivers receive competitive pay at $32.52 per hour, plus a potential safety bonus up to $2000 annually. The compensation package also includes paid weekly direct deposits and attractive referral bonuses. Moreover, Airgas offers employees a comprehensive family benefits program encompassing medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Additional support for parents through up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits further demonstrates the company's commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeing.
For career growth and financial security, Airgas provides a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Employees gain early access to benefits, which start just 30 days after hire. The Bulky Driver at Airgas is a respected and vital member of the team, working in a diverse and inclusive environment that values each person's unique contributions, ensuring both personal and professional development as the company continues its commitment to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
