Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent supplier in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related products. Known as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products, Airgas operates with over 18,000 employees dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, innovation, customer success, and sustainability. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide—an international leader with presence in over 60 countries and approximately 66,500 employees—Airgas benefits from global expertise in gases, technologies, and services designed for various industries and healthcare sectors. The company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee empowerment stands at the core of its organizational values, underscoring the importance of individual and collective talent to drive innovation and sustainable growth.
The Bulk Driver position at Airgas in Concord, NC, offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of a team that prioritizes safety and customer service while delivering essential products in the chemical and industrial sectors. This role involves the safe operation of a CDL A Bulk Tanker within a 350-mile radius, primarily handling anhydrous ammonia and ammonium hydroxide. Airgas offers competitive compensation at $31.00 per hour, with a Sun-Thursday schedule on the first shift, along with the possibility to work additional days. Drivers enjoy the benefit of returning home nightly, which is an attractive aspect for those seeking work-life balance.
In this critical role, the Bulk Driver is responsible for not only transporting hazardous materials safely but also engaging directly with customers to ensure compliance with safety procedures and resolving service inquiries. Responsibilities include meticulous record-keeping, including completing load manifests, vehicle inspections, and ensuring all safety equipment is fully operational. Airgas invests in modern fleet vehicles equipped with advanced safety and driver assistance technologies, such as collision avoidance, on-board computers, and GPS navigation, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
The company also supports personal and family well-being with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage. This package extends to paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement with company matching, tuition assistance, and paid holidays, highlighting Airgas’ commitment to employee growth and financial security. Training and development opportunities are emphasized, with education assistance and scholarship programs available to employee dependents.
Candidates joining Airgas as Bulk Drivers must meet stringent qualifications to ensure safety and performance standards. The role demands a minimum of 25 years of age, a Class A CDL with recent experience, tanker and hazmat endorsements, and a clean driving record. Physical demands include the ability to lift heavy loads and perform repetitive bending, while the ability to work under pressure, independently, and across diverse teams is required. The company encourages a drug-free workplace and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Joining Airgas means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive organization where every employee’s contributions are valued and respected. Airgas promotes an engaging and supportive environment that not only values safety and compliance but also encourages innovation and personal growth in a rapidly evolving industry. With its strong corporate culture, diverse workforce, and competitive benefits, Airgas provides an outstanding career opportunity for qualified Bulk Drivers seeking stability, respect, and meaningful work within the industrial gases sector.
