Job Requirements

minimum age 18
high school diploma or equivalent
completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
capacity to perform detailed and precise tasks
effective communication and interpersonal skills
ability to lift and manage weight loads safely according to department standards
commitment to food safety and sanitation compliance

Job Duties

provides superior customer service
takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
answers customer questions regarding products
assists them with selections
prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
cleans and sanitizes display cases
operates and maintains equipment properly
complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
complies with department/store operating procedures
performs additional department-specific responsibilities depending on bakery, deli, or prepared foods
handles inventory management processes and catering orders as applicable
