Job Description
The restaurant server position is a vital role within the dynamic Food and Beverage department of a reputable hotel establishment. This role operates directly under the supervision of the Restaurant Supervisor, Food and Beverage Manager, and General Manager. The company prides itself on delivering an exceptional guest experience, focusing on high standards of service, quality, and professionalism throughout its dining and hospitality offerings. As a restaurant server, the candidate will be the primary point of contact for guests entering the dining area, embodying the spirit of hospitality and superior customer service that defines the establishment. The hotel environment is fast-paced and vibrant, where servers are essential in creating an inviting and seamless dining experience from moment of arrival through to departure. Given the multifaceted nature of the role, it demands a person highly attentive to guests’ needs, maintaining courteous communication, handling orders efficiently, and adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
The restaurant server position involves a broad spectrum of responsibilities designed to uplift the guest experience. Candidates must demonstrate thorough knowledge of table settings, menu items, and daily specials, including ingredients and allergens to assist guests with informed recommendations. Upselling, an integral part of the role, requires a server to suggest additional items in a persuasive, friendly manner that enhances guest satisfaction and promotes sales. The position also includes handling payments and gratuities with professionalism and accuracy. Physical endurance is essential as the role requires the ability to carry tray loads, lift heavy items, work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and maintain mobility for extended periods. Cleanliness and sanitation are paramount, not only at the individual table level but throughout the dining area and work stations. Maintaining a polished professional appearance with the appropriate uniform and nametag is mandatory, reinforcing the establishment’s image and commitment to quality.
Communication is a core competency required for this role, as servers must interact effectively with a diverse clientele, fellow team members, and management. Familiarity with hotel services, ongoing promotions, local attractions, and the ability to convey this information accurately adds value to the guest experience. Safety and compliance with health regulations and company policies are non-negotiable components, ensuring the welfare of guests and colleagues alike. Emergency response readiness and discretion in handling guest information round out the responsibilities that define an outstanding restaurant server within this esteemed hotel setting. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in food service, a keen eye for detail, an outgoing personality, and a passion for hospitality excellence. While the position demands a solid work ethic and commitment, it also offers a rewarding opportunity to build a career in the vibrant hotel and hospitality industry, backed by a supportive professional team and structured management oversight.
