The role being offered is that of a Culinary professional within the King & Rye outlet, designed for an individual passionate about food quality, kitchen efficiency, and team collaboration. This is a regular full-time position, offering a competitive starting hourly wage of USD $19.00. This role holds a crucial responsibility in guaranteeing superior food service by maintaining rigorous quality control, supporting line cooks through effective training, and upholding top-tier sanitation standards throughout the kitchen. The culinary expert will act as an essential link between menu planning and the execution of dishes, ensuring all culinary creations adhere strictly to established recipe cards and presentation guidelines. Part of this responsibility includes constant monitoring of kitchen line set-ups and equipment maintenance, fostering a clean and efficient work environment that can cope with high-volume meal periods smoothly.
In this capacity, the individual will also be instrumental in managing food inventory by checking pars, rotating and dating food containers according to standard operating procedures, and maintaining proper food temperatures to ensure safety and freshness. The position requires hands-on preparation of menu items, both on-demand and ahead of service, with keen attention paid to minimizing waste and optimizing cost controls. This involves actively participating in stock management, highlighting shortages, and assisting in buffet stocking to enhance the overall dining service. Job Requirements
- high school education or equivalent
- one to two years of related employment experience
- knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices
- ability to lift food cases and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs
- ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, and mobility over 30-50 feet regularly
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to hear equipment timers and communicate effectively
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly
Job Qualifications
- high school education or equivalent
- experience required by position is from one to two full years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s)
- knowledge of cooking and the practices and procedures of a kitchen in order to perform non-repetitive analytical work
Job Duties
- Check all items against the recipe cards
- verify that use records are followed for all items served and that food is presented in an efficient, quality manner
- monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions to ensure maximum efficiency during meal periods
- monitor the equipment maintenance and kitchen clean as you go policy to ensure strict adherence
- prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers
- start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs
- date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
