The hotel food and beverage department is currently seeking a full-time Line Cook to join its kitchen team and contribute to an exceptional dining experience. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this role is pivotal to ensuring that all restaurant orders are prepared accurately according to the Executive Chef’s recipes and specifications. The Line Cook is tasked with maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with Health Department and Moody Gardens’ rigorous standards. Candidates will play an essential role in food preparation, ensuring ingredients like fresh seafood are handled with the utmost care to maintain quality and safety.
This position requires a seasoned cook with at least five years of experience in a similar role and the ability to reliably perform under the pressure of a busy kitchen environment. The Line Cook must also consistently follow recipes, manage stock levels, prepare buffet setups, and coordinate with servers and other kitchen staff to deliver a smooth food service operation.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years prior experience in a similar position
- must obtain TABC and Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
- ability to read, listen, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
- basic math skills
- ability to operate kitchen appliances such as stoves, ovens, and mixers
- knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation
- ability to grasp, lift, carry, or push goods up to 50 pounds regularly
- ability to perform duties in confined spaces
- ability to remain on feet for long periods
- ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Receive orders from restaurant servers and prepare the order in line with the Executive Chef’s instruction
- maintain appropriate sanitation of the line with Health Department and Moody Gardens standards
- assist in all necessary preparation for buffet and operations of line
- check all coolers at the beginning and end of shift and make sure they are all running at the right temperature
- handle fresh seafood with care, making sure it is iced down around the clock
- keep the line clean at all times
- check the banquet function sheet every morning
- set the line for the next day
- keep up with stock and alert Executive Chef if an item has run out or is running low
- follow recipes at all times
- perform any and all other duties as assigned
