Job Description
Eataly is the world’s largest artisanal Italian food and beverage marketplace, renowned globally for its commitment to authentic Italian culture and cuisine. Unlike traditional chains, each Eataly location is unique, featuring its own distinct character and theme tailored to the local environment while maintaining a unified mission. The company's core purpose is to offer guests an immersive Italian experience where they can eat authentic Italian food at a variety of restaurants, cafés, and to-go counters. Eataly also provides the opportunity to shop a carefully curated selection of high-quality Italian, local, and homemade products. Beyond dining and shopping, Eataly prioritizes education through engaging classes and the extensive product knowledge of its team, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary traditions.
Within this vibrant marketplace, the role of Bread Baker is crucial to upholding the high standards of Eataly's food offerings. Positioned in a 24-hour operating bakery, the Bread Baker plays an essential role in crafting handcrafted breads and focaccia using genuine Italian recipes. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, the baker is responsible for producing fresh bread, focaccia, rolls, and other bread items that serve both Eataly's restaurants and retail outlets. The position demands adherence to proper proofing and baking techniques that vary according to the specific type of bread being prepared to ensure consistency and quality in every batch.
Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the food production area is critical and must meet the stringent standards set by the Department of Health. The Bread Baker is expected to strive for mastery over all shifts and production processes, demonstrating versatility and skill in managing different bakery operations. Furthermore, the role includes occasional support for Sales Associates and interaction with guests interested in learning more about the bread-making process, blending culinary craftsmanship with customer engagement. This dynamic position not only requires technical baking skills but also a passion for Italian cuisine and a commitment to delivering an authentic experience to every guest. Eataly's supportive environment and strong emphasis on product education provide a unique career opportunity for bakers looking to deepen their expertise and contribute to a world-class Italian marketplace.
