Job Description
E.A. Sween is a distinguished, family-owned food distribution company established in 1955, with a long-standing tradition of delivering high-quality fresh food products to convenience stores and other retail outlets. As a third-generation enterprise, E.A. Sween combines the strength of a family business with the professionalism and strategic growth vision of a larger company, creating a nurturing and people-first culture that values every employee. This company prides itself on fostering a welcoming, respectful, and rewarding environment where team members are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work and are truly seen, heard, and appreciated for who they are, not just for what they do. With over six decades of expertise in the food delivery industry, E.A. Sween remains committed to its mission: to passionately feed millions daily with food people enjoy. The company’s proud history and continued success are built on the dedication of talented individuals who choose to call E.A. Sween home.
The role of an Overnight Route Driver at E.A. Sween is a dynamic, hands-on position that extends well beyond conventional driving duties. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage of $22.75 and requires working overnight hours, including weekends and holidays, making it ideal for candidates who thrive in active, physical, and flexible working environments. As an Overnight Route Driver, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of fresh food products such as sandwiches, milk, bread, and bakery items to convenience stores along a designated route. The job requires not only driving but also involves loading and unloading the truck, managing deliveries with accuracy and timeliness, collecting empty trays, and using technology such as electronic tablets for tracking and reporting. Given the nature of the work, drivers must be comfortable working in variable temperatures ranging from 38 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and performing regular physical activities like lifting heavy items up to 75 pounds and pushing or pulling loads up to 300 pounds.
This role is vital to the company’s operational success, ensuring that fresh food products are transported safely and efficiently to customers. Drivers engage fully in all phases of delivery, from performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their 24-28 foot straight box trucks to maintaining cleanliness and reporting vehicle issues promptly. E.A. Sween invests deeply in the safety and training of their drivers, with ongoing sessions to maintain best practices and compliance with company standards. Additionally, the Overnight Route Driver will contribute to warehouse operations, completing necessary paperwork and supporting team objectives. The company deeply values professionals who are committed to excellent customer service, safety-first mindsets, adaptability to fast-paced and fluctuating environments, and collaboration with the broader team.
Being part of E.A. Sween means joining a cultural environment where respect, care, and diversity are paramount. The company encourages open, constructive communication, thoughtful decision-making, and a commitment to both personal and organizational growth. Employees are recognized through various programs and enjoy a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; company-paid life insurance; and tuition reimbursement, among others. With E.A. Sween, employees not only perform a critical job delivering essential food products but also become members of a community that celebrates success and fosters positive workplace spirit.
This role is an excellent opportunity for reliable, motivated individuals who enjoy active work, value safety and teamwork, and want to contribute meaningfully to a growing, family-oriented company. If you have the experience, physical ability, and communication skills needed to excel in a nighttime delivery environment, and you want to be part of an organization that respects and invests in its people, E.A. Sween invites you to apply and join their team.
