Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two to three years driving experience
  • CDL Class B license required
  • Ability to operate box trucks safely
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform emergency roadside repairs

  • Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, including ice and snow, with ability to chain-up
  • Preferred experience with lift gates, forklifts, and pallet jacks
  • Previous material handling and hazardous materials experience

Job Duties

  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles operated, reporting discrepancies immediately
  • Load and unload trucks and containers, lift materials, identify, label, count, receive, and issue freight
  • Ensure cargo is secured for transport in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws
  • Operate a box truck to pick up and deliver customer freight in various locations
  • Prepare documents for pick-up and provide information to dispatcher
  • Pack and ship materials compliant with DOT and hazardous materials regulations
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards focusing on care and custody of materials
  • Prioritize and complete day-to-day assigned activities
  • Maintain telephone or PeopleNet contact with terminal dispatcher to receive instructions
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, and tire chains as required
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
