The role available is a Box Office Manager at the Orpheum Theatre, a critical position responsible for overseeing day-of-show ticket sales, managing all aspects of box office operations, and supporting overall event management. This position requires a seasoned professional capable of coordinating complex ticketing logistics, maintaining accurate financial records, and leading a part-time box office staff during events. The Box Office Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that patrons have a seamless ticket purchasing experience while simultaneously supporting the theatre’s operational and promotional activities. This includes assisting with marketing, social media content, volunteer management, and facility operations, thereby contributing significantly to the success of every event hosted at the venue.
Key responsibilities encompass directing the internal control of box office operations according to the established Box Office Manual, coordinating ticketing information with facility personnel, working closely with event promoters to set ticket pricing and seating arrangements, and managing ticket inventory once event builds are complete. Furthermore, this position involves preparing final box office financial statements and audits, maintaining detailed event files, and collaborating with various promotional initiatives like Groupon and Vet Tix. The Box Office Manager also operates the box office on event days, supervises ticket sellers, and ensures accountability for cash handling and accurate reporting.
Additionally, the role requires coordination with other Legends Global venues, adaptable scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a professional demeanor in all interactions. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience combined with at least three years in a related role, demonstrating proficiency in accounting, customer service, and supervisory tasks. Experience with the ProVenue Ticketing system is a plus. Job Duties
- Directs and oversees the internal control of daily box office operations as outlined in the Box Office Manual
- coordinates all ticketing information for facility personnel in a timely manner
- works with event promoters and appropriate personnel to establish ticket pricing and seating configuration as needed
- gathers all necessary ticketing setup information from promoters and/or tours, completes ticketing build sheet, and submits for build
- responsible for placing holds per promoter and/or tour specifications and maintaining oversight of inventory once event build is complete
- monitors daily ticket sales for all upcoming events and communicates information to the Director and promoter representative
- prepares and presents the final box office statement and audits to the Finance Department for event settlement
- establishes files on each event including seats on-hold, complimentary tickets, sightline and trouble holds, event audits, and ticket inventory
- coordinates promoter requests for ticketing initiatives such as Groupon and Vet Tix
- communicates needs and supervises ticket sellers on event days
- prepares cash banks, opens and closes box office, and creates bank deposits from daily sales
- maintains accurate record of cash received, tickets sold, and change bank/vault
- prepares and submits daily business transaction reports
- assists or sells tickets on event days
- demonstrates excellent customer service
- assists Theatre Director with hospitality, volunteer management, and operations
- assists Director of Marketing and Booking with marketing plans, social media content, and mass email marketing
- assists with promotions and housekeeping coordination
- assists with recruiting, onboarding, training, and scheduling volunteers
- works at all Legends Global venues in Wichita and Andover
- performs other duties as assigned by Theatre Director
