The Bowling Manager role at Round1 is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bowling department. This includes managing sales, staffing, and operational efficiency while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and employee morale. The manager will handle event coordination, party rentals, and ensure that the bowling lanes and equipment are well-maintained. This role requires a high degree of visibility in the bowling center to provide superior customer service, share expert bowling tips, and maintain compliance with safety and alcohol service regulations. As an essential leader in the entertainment venue, the Bowling Manager will coach and develop a dynamic team to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence.

The position demands strong business acumen, with a focus on achieving sales and profit projections through promotional activities and membership drives. The manager will be responsible for auditing sales, ensuring regulatory compliance including OSHA standards, and managing inventory needs. This role also requires hands-on operation and maintenance of bowling equipment including pinsetter systems such as VECTOR and SYNC. Physical endurance and flexibility are crucial, as the manager must regularly perform duties that involve bending, lifting, and maneuvering in an active and noisy environment.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in bowling, entertainment or hospitality
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Open availability including nights and weekends
  • Ability to work in a noisy, active bowling center environment
  • Physical ability to bend, stretch, lift up to 100lbs with assistance and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to manage staffing, sales, and operations effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience in bowling, entertainment or hospitality industries
  • Strong operational skills with focus on great time management
  • Ability to operate and maintain bowling pinsetter systems such as VECTOR and SYNC

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service and satisfaction by being constantly visible and readily accessible to customers
  • Provide customers with bowling tips and techniques
  • Conduct alcohol and age restriction control in accordance with company policies
  • Select, coach, and develop effective staff for the Bowling, Karaoke and Events Department
  • Assist with new hire orientation for store employees
  • Review department timesheets for accuracy of hours and overtime
  • Conduct performance evaluations and counseling notices
  • Responsible for the sales and profit projections of the department, including rentals and parties
  • Proactively support promotional activities within the store
  • Promote and sell bowling games, memberships and pro shop products
  • Ensure that all safety standards such as OSHA are maintained
  • Create daily audit reports with sales information and auditing discoveries for store management
  • Audit refund and/or credits against itemized sales from the previous day, cash drawers and transactions, and track special events
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supply stock
  • Oversee bowling and party preparation - inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas
  • Operate bowling pinsetter system (VECTOR/SYNC) and perform lane maintenance
  • Coordinate all procedures for special events, such as Moonlight Strike game
  • Enforce compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy for safety and loss prevention
