We are currently seeking a dedicated Night Auditor to join our front desk team. This role works under the supervision of the Front Desk Supervisor and plays a crucial part in the smooth operation of the hotel's front desk during overnight hours. The Night Auditor is responsible for checking in and checking out guests, verifying that rooms are prepared and ready for assignment. This position also involves overseeing front desk clerks' daily assignments and completing the nightly audit. The role requires handling guest requests and resolving complaints promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in night audit functions and a clear understanding of hotel operations, particularly front desk and guest services. This position demands accuracy in reconciling financial transactions, running audit reports, and balancing accounts. The Night Auditor should possess excellent communication skills to interact effectively with guests and staff, ensuring that all departmental policies are followed, and property standards are upheld. An ability to anticipate guest needs and provide positive guest relations is essential, along with maintaining cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas. Familiarity with property features, room types, rates, and scheduled activities is critical for providing accurate information to guests.

This full-time position offers an environment where attention to detail and efficiency in handling financial records are valued. Candidates should be comfortable working independently during overnight shifts and demonstrate proficiency with bookkeeping, adding, calculating, and computer systems. Previous experience with LMS and night audit processes is advantageous. The role also requires physical ability to perform duties involving some lifting, walking, and standing.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a front desk reception or customer service position
  • Three to six months previous experience in a night audit position preferred
  • Previous experience with LMS preferred
  • Ability to compassionately work with upset guests in an effort to resolve their concerns
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret guest room bills
  • Able to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
  • Comfortable promoting hotel room product and explaining different types of rooms available to guests
  • Ability and willingness to promote the property and property events and amenities
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with cash on a computer and a 10-key machine
  • Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Verify and balance entries and records of financial transactions reported by the front desk during day using adding bookkeeping and calculating machines
  • Reconcile guest payments run audit reports calculate revenues correct errors verify cashier work guest registration check-out and reservations work
  • Resolve hanging balances left on guest accounts document and communicate any discrepancies or resolutions to management
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies services procedures and standards
  • Anticipate guests’ needs respond promptly and acknowledge all guests however busy and whatever time of day
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction and inform supervisor
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
