Job Description
Genki Sushi USA, Inc. is a renowned sushi restaurant chain known for its innovative sushi delivery system, quality Japanese cuisine, and exceptional customer service. As a leader in the fast-casual dining industry, Genki Sushi focuses on providing an engaging and efficient dining experience through the use of technology such as the bullet express system. With locations across the United States, the company is committed to upholding high standards of food quality, sanitation, and customer satisfaction, while fostering a dynamic and supportive work environment for its employees.
The position available is an entry-level trainee role designed for individuals eager to build a career in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Under the direct supervision of the Senior or Store Manager (T-4), this role provides structured, routine assignments aimed at developing skills across various kitchen and back-of-house stations. Throughout a 90-day probationary period, trainees will be trained to become competent in all essential kitchen duties, ranging from prep cook tasks to operating the unique bullet express sushi delivery system.
This role places a strong emphasis on learning and adhering to company policies, kitchen cleanliness, sanitation standards, and delivering excellent customer service. Employees in this position will work collaboratively with management to ensure the dining environment is both welcoming and highly organized. The trainee will also be responsible for responding professionally to customer complaints and ensuring customer satisfaction at all times.
The trainee position involves hands-on experience with multiple back-of-house stations including sushi preparation, frying, dishwashing, and general kitchen prep work. The employee will learn proper food handling techniques, including food rotation using FIFO methods, and will be expected to maintain food quality, presentation, and portion control as per company standards. A key goal of this role is to successfully support daily kitchen operations, including opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities, while supporting timely receipt and storage of deliveries.
Working conditions include indoor restaurant environments with exposure to kitchen temperatures, chemical cleaning agents, and the physical demands of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. Work hours typically range from 4-6 hours per shift, with a requirement of at least 35 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Trainees will attend all relevant briefings, staff meetings, and comply with all State OSHA, food, and sanitation regulations.
Overall, this entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals seeking to grow their culinary and hospitality skills in a fast-paced, innovative restaurant setting. Genki Sushi USA, Inc. offers a supportive pathway for career progression while instilling pride in delivering authentic and high-quality sushi experiences to customers.
