The Boathouse, located at lake level in The Edgewater's historic Langdon Building, is a unique and beloved restaurant that offers authentic Wisconsin favorites with a picturesque setting directly on the shores of Lake Mendota in downtown Madison. Job Requirements
- must be 18 years or older
- willingness to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays
- ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- effective communication skills with guests, co-workers, and management
- must have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers, and wine
- ability to manage and enforce service standards
- willingness to learn new restaurant service concepts
- must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently
Job Qualifications
- minimum two years experience as a manager, supervisor, or lead in a restaurant setting
- experience in a hotel or resort environment preferred
- proven ability to supervise and coach staff effectively
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
- familiarity with food and beverage service standards
- bartending experience preferred
- food safety certification preferred
- flexibility to work varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- provide leadership and supervision to restaurant staff
- conduct and lead pre-shift meetings
- review inventory and assist in stock management
- resolve customer issues and complaints promptly
- promote teamwork and provide training and guidance
- enforce service standards among bartenders, servers, hosts, and food runners
- support the Boathouse Manager with day-to-day operational tasks
