Job Description

Joining The Blood Connection as an Account Manager means becoming an integral part of a dynamic team within the Donor Resources Department. This role is pivotal in driving the success of blood drives within an assigned territory. The Account Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing blood drive accounts, maximizing their productivity, identifying and acquiring new accounts, and strategically utilizing corporate resources to meet divisional objectives. This role demands a proactive, strategic, and relationship-driven approach. The Account Manager works closely with department management to analyze collection data, plan targeted outreach, and implement innovative recruitment campaigns. The goal is to consistently achieve or surpass blood collection targets while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with donor groups and sponsor organizations.

The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as the Account Manager frequently interacts with blood drive coordinators, donor chairpersons, community stakeholders, and volunteers. They serve as a trusted advisor and advocate, providing personalized support through detailed planning, marketing, follow-up, and donor appointment management. Creativity and resourcefulness are encouraged, empowering the Account Manager to develop compelling campaigns and incentives to increase donor turnout. The role also involves community engagement activities such as attending health fairs, conducting presentations, and building awareness of the critical mission of The Blood Connection.

Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • outside sales and/or marketing experience of 2 years preferred or related experience
  • valid driver's license with no major infractions and dependable transportation
  • ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
  • ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
  • strong computer skills
  • ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment

Job Qualifications

  • College degree preferred

  • public speaking-ability to sell The Blood Connection to all groups in the community by carrying our message of community service and the necessity of participation and support
  • experience with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

  • ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute effective strategies to recruit, retain, and manage sponsor group organizations and relationships to achieve territory blood collection goals
  • establish blood drive projections in line with divisional resources and needs
  • develop potential sponsor leads
  • strategize recruitment tactics well in advance of blood drive date and adhere to drive planning best practices
  • hold external stakeholders responsible for helping to achieve drive goals
  • effectively communicate with donor chairpersons and donor groups pre, during and post drive event
  • encourage creativity and successful campaigns to increase donor participation at blood drives
  • implement all TBC marketing programs
  • exhibit teamwork within division to help ensure divisional goal is met
  • establish committees to recruit donors and volunteer at drives
  • coordinate meetings and presentations within sponsor groups to teach donor recruitment techniques and encourage importance of each account hitting goal
  • provide superior customer service to blood donors, blood donor groups, internal and external customers
  • establish patronage and relationships with blood drive sponsor groups
  • educate the community by attending health fairs and community/marketing events and giving presentations to spread the mission of The Blood Connection
  • organize meetings with sponsor contacts, committees, and/or employees to educate them and promote blood drives
  • seek out opportunities to speak at services at houses of worship
  • seek out supervisory, health/safety meetings, and employee meetings to further educate and recruit donors for blood drives
  • build strong relationships with sponsor groups to grow blood drives into more successful events
