The Bistro Server position is an exciting opportunity for candidates interested in joining a customer-focused team that values exemplary service and teamwork. This role is primarily dedicated to serving food and beverages to guests with a courteous and friendly approach, adhering to the brand and hotel guest service standards, as well as the company’s sustainability initiatives. The Bistro Server is responsible for ensuring an outstanding dining experience by effectively communicating guests’ special requests and dietary needs to the kitchen, handling orders and payments, preparing beverages including alcoholic drinks when required, and maintaining a well-stocked and clean work area throughout the shift.

In addition to delivering excellent service during regular dining hours, the Bistro Server may be called upon to perform additional duties during peak periods or staff shortages, such as bartending, bussing tables, and assisting in food preparation. This variety allows employees to gain valuable skills and experience in multiple aspects of food and beverage operations. The position offers a structured career growth path, from starting as a Bistro Server to advancing to roles such as Banquet Server or Captain, Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, and ultimately Banquet Manager.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous food and beverage experience or equivalent training required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk, push, lift up to 25 pounds, bend, and reach
  • Adherence to safety protocols including MSDS and OSHA standards

Job Duties

  • Set up necessary supplies, food, and beverage at the beginning of the shift and maintain a stocked work area at all times
  • Take orders from customers, input orders, obtain payment and provide change
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • Prepare food, coffee and other beverages, including alcohol, when necessary
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food, when necessary
  • Perform other food and beverage functions such as bartending and bussing in the event of staffing shortages or peak periods
  • Count bank at end of shift, complete designated cashier reports, resolve any discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure bank in accordance with established policies
  • Clean all equipment and areas, locking equipment doors, etc.
  • Abide by state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
