Job Description

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a renowned academic and medical institution that offers comprehensive educational, clinical, and research opportunities in health sciences. It is committed to improving the health and wellness of the community through outstanding patient care, innovative research, and exemplary education. Within this dynamic environment, the College of Nursing plays a pivotal role by preparing highly skilled nursing professionals who excel in healthcare delivery, education, and leadership. The College is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture that values diversity and encourages continuous learning and professional growth.

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is currently seeking a full-time Bilingual Front Desk Receptionist to join its federally qualified community health center, Sheridan Health Services Community Clinic, located in Denver, CO. This role is essential to providing front-line customer service and administrative support across multiple service areas including pediatrics, primary care, obstetrics, dental, and behavioral health. Sheridan Health Services is a nurse-managed, multi-site community health center that serves primarily residents from Arapahoe, Denver, and Jefferson counties. Approximately 65% of its patient population identifies as Latinx, with a significant number requiring care in Spanish, making bilingual skills a vital requirement for this position.

The Bilingual Front Desk Receptionist will be cross-trained to work across service lines, ensuring smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient experiences. Responsibilities include welcoming and checking in patients and visitors, verifying and updating patient records, managing appointment schedules and incoming calls, processing insurance verifications, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Additionally, this role involves administrative duties such as addressing billing inquiries, handling correspondence, coordinating mail distribution, and supporting clinic policies and procedures. The receptionist acts as a vital liaison between patients and healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication and coordination.

This opportunity offers a competitive starting salary range of $39,841 to $43,831 annually and a comprehensive benefits package including multiple medical and dental plan options, disability and life insurance, a retirement plan with employer contributions, paid time off, vacation and sick leave, tuition benefits, and reduced public transportation rates. The University of Colorado fosters a supportive work environment with a commitment to employee well-being and professional development.

Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of clerical experience or equivalent college coursework. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English at a conversational level is required to communicate effectively with the diverse patient community served by the clinic. Experience with Microsoft Office, electronic health record systems, and health insurance processes is highly preferred. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor in a fast-paced healthcare setting are essential qualities for success in this role.

This position is onsite at the Sheridan Health Services locations in Denver and may require flexibility to work at other clinic sites as needed. The University of Colorado embraces equal opportunity employment practices, supports accommodations for applicants with disabilities, and requires background checks to ensure a safe workplace. By joining the College of Nursing as a Bilingual Front Desk Receptionist, individuals contribute directly to advancing healthcare access and quality for underserved populations while gaining valuable experience in a leading academic medical center environment.
