Job Description

The role of Beverage Manager is a pivotal position within the Food and Beverage department of an esteemed hospitality operation, reporting directly to the Director of Food and Beverage. This position is crucial for managing the diverse and dynamic environment of bars and restaurants, ensuring the highest standards of service, quality, and operational excellence are consistently met. The Beverage Manager acts as both a leader and an expert in beverage operations, encompassing everything from inventory control and financial oversight to staff management and guest relations. \n\nThe Beverage Manager is entrusted with overseeing all aspects of bar and restaurant functions including coordinating with the Director on operational strategy, supervising daily activities in one or multiple bar or lounge outlets, and representing the face of the beverage service to guests by delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role requires a deep understanding of beverage service protocols, cocktail innovation, cost management, and revenue generation. With direct responsibilities over staffing, the Beverage Manager hires, trains, and mentors a team to align with the department?s standards and company culture. Familiarity with POS systems, such as Micros or similar ordering platforms, is required, enabling the manager to efficiently oversee ordering, inventory control, and pricing mechanisms. \n\nFinancial responsibilities are significant to this role. The Beverage Manager must ensure that profit margins, cost control measures, and revenue forecasts meet or exceed budgeted targets. This involves crafting seasonal and concept-appropriate cocktail menus that boost diversity while maintaining quality and consistency. Job Requirements

  • Must be age 21 or older
  • Previous food and beverage management or supervisory experience required
  • Experience implementing new beverage concepts, costing, and budgeting
  • Extensive beverage operations and leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of wine, spirits, and mixology
  • Food handler and alcohol awareness (TABS) certification if applicable
  • Basic math skills and ability to communicate clearly under pressure
  • Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced dining environment
  • Flexible schedule with availability on weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • Must be age 21 or older

  • Basic math skills with excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of menu ingredients and cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of drink recipes and pricing
  • Ability to confidently make food and beverage pairing recommendations
  • Previous experience with Micros or similar POS systems
  • Familiarity with computer operations and ordering procedures
  • Effective communication skills with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Flexible to work weekends, nights, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with Director on all aspects of operations
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the bars and restaurants
  • Greet and welcome all guests, and manage the day-to-day activities of one or more bar/lounge outlets
  • Manage inventory including ordering, counting, and costing
  • Hire, train, and lead staff
  • Serve as POS operations subject matter expert for the beverage department
  • Ensure financial responsibility by meeting or exceeding margins, costs, and revenue targets
  • Coordinate seasonal cocktail changes and build a diverse cocktail list consistent with concepts and quality standards
  • Produce and properly cost new menus
  • Utilize strong organizational skills in budgets, forecasts, and vendor negotiations
  • Ensure outlets meet Guest Service Score goals set by the Executive Committee
  • Maintain department Associate Satisfaction Score goals
  • Ensure outlets comply with health codes, Marriott standards, and company policy
  • Foster and maintain a positive culture throughout outlet operations
  • Ensure professional, accurate, and timely staff communication
  • Accommodate special guest requests related to cocktails, liquor, and spirits
  • Provide training, support, and mentoring to staff
  • Maintain safe and positive work environment promoting teamwork and mutual respect
  • Perform all duties to ensure the effective operation of outlets
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities per company policies and applicable laws
  • Schedule staff aligned with business needs and budget while ensuring excellent guest experience
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by property management reflecting changes in business volume or needs
