The Atlanta Botanical Garden is currently seeking a Beverage Manager to join the Longleaf Restaurant team. This pivotal role focuses on overseeing the entire beverage program, including the development of wine, beer, and cocktail menus, maintaining inventory control, fostering strong vendor relationships, and training staff to ensure high standards of service and maximized profitability. The Beverage Manager plays a crucial role in curating exceptional drink offerings that complement the restaurant's menu and seasonal changes. Furthermore, the position demands a hands-on leadership approach where the Beverage Manager works closely with the General Manager and other team members to maintain operational excellence, enforce compliance with all health and liquor laws, and uphold the Garden’s core values such as conservation, integrity, and respect. This role requires flexibility with working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with typical shifts lasting eight to ten hours. Job Requirements

  • Liquor, wine, and beverage knowledge
  • Experience with recipe costing
  • Inventory management skills
  • Ability to assist chef with wine pairings and specialty cocktails
  • Interest in farm-to-table and local food chains
  • Experience working with bartenders on seasonal beverage selections
  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
  • Ability to apply feedback to improve performance
  • Effective leadership qualities including confidence and influencing skills
  • Ability to include staff in decision-making and provide feedback
  • Skills in planning, organizing, and setting goals
  • Aptitude for teaching and training staff
  • Experience in upscale casual or fine dining beverage management
  • Minimum of 2 years in hospitality management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Open Table, and Google Mail
  • Experience with POS systems, Spot On preferred
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
  • Capability to perform tasks requiring hand coordination and finger dexterity
  • Vision capabilities including close and distance vision
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in beverage management in upscale casual or fine dining restaurants
  • Over 2 years of hospitality management experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Open Table, and Google Mail
  • Familiarity with POS back-office systems, preferably Spot On
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of liquor, wine, and beverage recipe costing and inventory maintenance
  • Ability to assist with wine pairings and specialty cocktail development
  • Commitment to farm-to-table and local food sourcing philosophies

Job Duties

  • Lead all aspects of restaurant operations in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Assist with supervisory duties including hiring, training, and evaluating on-site employees
  • Collaborate with hosts and sales coordinators as needed
  • Ensure staff adherence to leadership behaviors and operational priorities
  • Share inspiration and ideas with staff
  • Manage personnel issues according to company policies
  • Develop and guide the restaurant team to effectively sell quality and professionalism
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and build relationships with patrons
  • Implement excellent service, hospitality, food, and beverage standards
  • Review and approve lunch, dinner, and brunch service planning
  • Respond appropriately to guest feedback
  • Oversee weekly ordering, receiving, restocking, and invoice coding
  • Supervise cleanliness and organization of bars, wine cabinets, and sales floor
  • Comply with state and federal food and beverage laws
  • Maintain SERV Safe and TIPS certifications
  • Attend management and leadership meetings and education training
