The Beverage Manager role at Loews Arlington Hotel is a dynamic leadership position integral to maintaining and enhancing the hotel's exceptional food and beverage service standards. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing the beverage department's operations across multiple outlets to ensure the delivery of a high-quality product with outstanding guest service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in beverage management, including staffing, budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, and cost management. With a keen eye for operational efficiency, the Beverage Manager develops and administers departmental policies and guidelines to optimize performance. The role requires effective collaboration and communication with outlet managers and cross-departmental teams to coordinate daily operations and special events smoothly.

Equally important are the supervisory duties focused on coaching, training, and evaluating staff to uphold Loews Hotels' standards. The Beverage Manager plays a pivotal role in recruiting, selecting, and disciplining team members while fostering an engaged and motivated workforce through ongoing training and performance management initiatives. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five to seven years of progressive management experience in upscale hotel beverage operations
  • TIPS certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of responsible alcohol service laws
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage budgets and labor costs
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Certification or willingness to obtain Responsible Vendor training

Job Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of wines and spirits
  • Proficient in beverage service operations and legal aspects of alcohol delivery
  • TIPS certified or equivalent certification
  • Five to seven years of progressive management experience in large upscale hotel beverage operations with multiple outlets
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective operating and control processes
  • Certified or willing to obtain Responsible Vendor training
  • Strong management, leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Maintains beverage department staffing levels for optimal performance
  • Develops and approves beverage department budgets, forecasts, and schedules
  • Establishes and administers departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Oversees labor management, inventory control, and product selection for all beverage outlets
  • Supervises production and delivery of quality product and service
  • Approves departmental purchase requisitions to keep operational costs within budget
  • Reviews and maintains daily payroll reports and labor cost controls
  • Establishes appropriate par levels for beverage and supply inventories
  • Ensures security and proper use of supplies and equipment
  • Attends hotel meetings to stay informed of activities and events
  • Communicates daily with outlet managers regarding activities and functions
  • Evaluates team member performance and identifies training needs
  • Coaches, counsels, and retrains staff to maintain superior performance levels
  • Conducts interviews, appraisals, and disciplinary actions for team members
  • Follows new hire training and ongoing service competency programs
  • Holds departmental meetings to update team on hotel information and activities
  • Assesses guest needs and industry trends to recommend product and service improvements
  • Executes emergency procedures and complies with safety regulations
  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills
  • Maintains cleanliness and equipment condition
  • Complies with hotel standards, policies, and uniform codes
  • Recycles when possible
  • Remains current with hotel information and changes
