The role of Beverage Manager is a key leadership position within the club’s Food & Beverage department. Reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Beverage Manager oversees all aspects of beverage operations, ensuring that the club’s beverage program reflects quality, creativity, and financial viability. This includes managing inventory control for wine, beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic drinks, developing seasonal beverage menus in collaboration with the culinary and events teams, and implementing staff training programs to maintain service excellence and compliance with safety regulations. This position also requires hands-on involvement, with the Beverage Manager actively participating in service rounds to engage with members and guests, ensuring their beverage experience is exceptional. Additional responsibilities include overseeing beverage service at private events, maintaining cleanliness and compliance standards, and contributing to budget management by controlling costs related to beverages and labor.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in hospitality management and wine expertise, holding at least a Level 1 Sommelier certification, and bringing leadership experience within a club or fine dining environment. The role demands excellent communication and organizational skills, a passion for beverage program development, and a commitment to ongoing professional education. Candidates must be physically able to handle the duties required in a busy service environment and be flexible with working hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed. Job Requirements

  • A college degree in culinary arts or hospitality management
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within a club, restaurant, or similar establishment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the wine industry
  • Level 1 Sommelier Certificate or equivalent
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Effective communication skills including talking, hearing, and visual acuity
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extra hours as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining certifications and ongoing professional growth

Job Qualifications

  • A college degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role such as Lead Server, Supervisor, Captain, Maitre d’or in a club, restaurant, or hospitality setting
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the wine industry
  • Achieved and maintained at least Level 1 Sommelier Certificate (CMS1)
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and certification renewal
  • Experience in developing and executing wine and cocktail programs
  • Specialized training in the wine and/or beverage industry
  • Proven ability to manage financially sound beverage programs
  • Completion of food and beverage online training modules such as Service Training, Bartender Training, Alcohol Safety training

Job Duties

  • Oversee inventory management of wine, beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages ensuring proper rotation, seasonal ordering, and storage conditions
  • Adapt beverage offerings to member interests and maintain high product quality and availability
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director on menu development and beverage pairings
  • Train staff in proper techniques, recipes, and complete Alcohol Safety Training
  • Supervise dining and bar staff including scheduling, service meetings, and assisting in performance reviews
  • Work the dining room and bar floor during service to ensure high-quality beverage experiences and engage with members
  • Represent beverage operations at event planning meetings, determine beverage needs for private events, and collaborate with private events team
  • Oversee all club beverage programs including wine lists and seasonal cocktail offerings
  • Manage beverage-related costs and contribute to upselling and budget-conscious operations
  • Ensure safety and sanitation practices and maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas
