With a commitment to culinary excellence and community engagement, Sisters Coffee is expanding its presence with a new cafe in the Jackstraw building that features an expanded food program. Their cafes serve a variety of breakfast favorites including breakfast sandwiches, burritos, bowls, bagels, toasts, and house-made pastries, catering to a high volume of customers each day. The role available at Sisters Coffee focuses on the prep/breakfast cook position in the back-of-house team. This position is key to maintaining the efficiency and quality of the kitchen operations. It involves working the food preparation line and managing daily food prep responsibilities to ensure all components are stocked and ready for service. The team members share kitchen duties such as dishwashing and cleaning to maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary workspace. The morning to afternoon shifts range between 4-9 hours daily, occurring between 5:30 am and 4 pm, including weekends and holidays. Both full and part-time positions are offered, with hourly pay starting at $15.50 plus tips resulting in total wages up to $25.50 per hour depending on experience. This position demands physical stamina, ability to work on feet for long periods, and willingness to support various tasks including cooking, cleaning, and running food. The environment requires adaptability to hot and cold kitchen areas and handling heavy lifting as needed. Job Requirements

  • 1-2 years of work or culinary school experience in a commercial kitchen recommended
  • Valid Oregon Food handlers card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire
  • Willingness to work both week and weekend days with shifts scheduled between 5:30am and 4pm
  • Must be willing to work afternoons and weekends
  • Ability to reliably show up to work on time

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of work experience or culinary school experience in a commercial kitchen preferred
  • Valid Oregon Food handlers card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable punctuality and attendance
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Work to ensure all components are prepped and maintained to keep the line stocked and ready for service
  • Prepare and serve high-quality, to-go food orders quickly using induction burners, convection ovens and Turbo Chef ovens
  • Take on necessary daily kitchen tasks including running food, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping floors and wiping counters
  • Stand or walk for extended periods during shifts of 4-9 hours
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace
  • Adapt to working in hot and cold kitchen environments
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed
