Job Description
Hotel Oceana Santa Monica is a premier oceanfront hotel located in the vibrant city of Santa Monica, California. Known for its luxurious all-suite accommodations and prime location right on the beach, it has been recognized as the number one hotel in Los Angeles by Travel and Leisure. The hotel underwent a significant $35 million transformation and reopened in July 2019, offering guests an exquisite blend of modern design and unparalleled comfort. With its focus on exceptional guest experiences, Hotel Oceana stands as a beacon of hospitality, catering to both leisure and business travelers who seek a memorable stay by the Pacific Ocean.
The Bellman and Valet position at Hotel Oceana presents an exciting opportunity for individuals enthusiastic about service excellence in the hospitality industry. This full-time role involves assisting guests with parking their vehicles, retrieving them upon departure, handling luggage, and facilitating smooth transportation arrangements. The Bellman and Valet are often the first and last points of contact for guests, playing a crucial role in ensuring a warm welcome and a graceful farewell.
Employees in this role are responsible for more than just parking cars; they contribute to the overall guest experience by preparing rooms for immediate occupancy—turning on lights, opening drapes, and explaining room features and hotel policies such as internet access and room service. They must demonstrate a calm, professional demeanor while managing guest inquiries, providing directions, and assisting with various needs including taxi services, pet care, and luggage storage.
A key aspect of the job involves safe and responsible vehicle handling, with an emphasis on obeying traffic laws and maintaining a spotless driving record. Candidates with prior bellman or valet experience will find their skills valuable, but the hotel also offers comprehensive training to help all new hires meet its high-service standards. The role has a dynamic schedule that includes weekends and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of a bustling hospitality environment.
Aside from the hands-on responsibilities, the role requires adherence to the hotel’s dress and grooming standards, which ensures a polished and professional appearance in alignment with the property’s upscale brand image. Benefits for the position include medical, dental, vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, basic life insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay eligibility. Overall, this position offers a rewarding path for service-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting, representing one of the most prestigious hotels in the Los Angeles area.
