The position of Bell person is a pivotal role at this luxury hotel, designed for those who enjoy engaging with people and have a passion for hospitality. This part-time role offers compensation starting at $14.00 per hour plus tips, presenting excellent earning potential for hard-working individuals. Reporting directly to the Front Office Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager, or Front Office Supervisors, the Bell person serves as the first and last point of contact for guests, embodying the hotel’s commitment to exceptional service. The primary responsibility is to warmly welcome guests upon arrival, escort them to their accommodations, and ensure they feel comfortable throughout their stay by assisting with luggage, explaining property features, and anticipating their needs. This role requires a proactive and attentive individual who is aware of hotel activities and guest preferences, capable of making every guest feel valued and cared for in alignment with the hotel’s standards.
Working as a Bell person requires excellent interpersonal skills, a friendly demeanor, and the physical ability to perform the tasks associated with hospitality service. This includes parking guests' cars in secure locations, maintaining an inventory of cars and keys, delivering newspapers, making room deliveries, and ensuring the lobby and work areas are always presentable. The successful candidate must display professionalism, recognize VIP and returning guests, and provide assistance in a courteous and timely manner. Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- must be eligible to work in the United States
- ability to work a flexible schedule to include AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays
- ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, and crouching while performing other duties including but not limited entering and exiting vehicles
- ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- maintains strong personal image and uniform standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred but not required
- previous guest service, front door or bell service experience in a luxury property preferred
- previous customer service experience preferred
- good knowledge of the English language is mandatory as well as the ability to speak, read and write clearly
- must be able to read and listen to instructions, memos, short correspondences, and messages
Job Duties
- Greet all guests in the lobby in a warm and professional manner, make them feel welcome and anticipate their needs before they arise
- parking cars in secured locations and keeping proper inventory of all cars and keys
- recognize all returning and VIP guests and welcome them back
- escort all guests checking in to their accommodations following hotel procedure
- inform them about all hotel and guest room features, hotel facilities and emergency procedures
- assist guests with their luggage and acknowledge them by name
- deliver the morning newspapers to each occupied guest room
- make deliveries to guest rooms as instructed
- store and retrieve luggage and other objects for guests
- be aware of daily hotel activities, group, and VIP arrivals
- communicate special guest requests to the Guest Service Agent and or Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty
- ensure the lobby, bell closet and work areas as well as departmental equipment are always clean and presentable
- communicate needs to the Guest Service Agent and or Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty
- offer assistance to all guests and provide them with information requested and directions, escorting the guest whenever possible
