Job Requirements
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies service procedures and standards
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
- Use equipment only as intended
- Anticipate guests' needs respond promptly and acknowledge all guests however busy and whatever time of day
- Always maintain positive guest relations
- Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- Resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
- Transport guest luggage from point of arrival to assigned room
- Transport guest luggage for room changes and departure
- Assist in locating lost luggage log and notify guests of luggage delivered by airlines
- Correctly tag store and retrieve luggage from storage locations
- Identify and explain hotel facilities and features
- Identify fire exits and explain safety features
- Demonstrate use of room key
- Place guest luggage inside room using luggage rack or per request
- Identify and explain guest room features including air conditioning thermostat controls telephone HSIA television guest services directory in-room safe lights bathroom amenities extra pillows blankets and robes valet/laundry services ironing board door lock and ice
- Maintain knowledge of scheduled functions to direct guests accurately
- Relay accurate directions about local transportation
- Maintain accurate log of guest calls for Bell Person assistance
- Answer Bell Stand telephone promptly and courteously
- Remain in assigned post maintaining proper stance
- Log and track luggage handled for porterage inclusive groups
- Deliver items to guest rooms promptly including messages mail faxes packages flowers sundry and gift items
- Deliver USA Today newspaper by 6 a.m. to specified rooms
- Monitor and maintain appearance of lobby areas and luggage holding room
- Polish brass luggage carts and maintain cleanliness of carts
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a hospitality or customer service role preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of local attractions and hotel services
- Ability to maintain physical stamina for luggage handling
- Professional and courteous demeanor
Job Duties
- Transport guest luggage to/from guest rooms
- Escort guests to rooms and inform guests of all hotel services and features
