Job Description

King Soopers is a well-established grocery retail company based in Colorado, part of The Kroger Company since 1983. It operates over 115 stores across Colorado and Wyoming, blending diverse teams with a shared passion for food and people. Known for its commitment to feeding the human spirit, King Soopers offers a dynamic and inclusive workplace where integrity, respect, and safety are core values. The company serves millions of customers, providing everything from fresh produce to specialty products and adult beverages while maintaining a strong focus on exceptional customer service and community engagement.

The Adult Beverage Department Manager role at King Soopers is a crucial leadership position centered around enhancing the customer shopping experience by providing knowledgeable guidance and management expertise within the adult beverage section. This position requires the ability to interact effectively with customers both inside and outside the department to help them make informed purchasing decisions. The manager is responsible for planning, organizing, training, and directing the Adult Beverage department clerks while simultaneously contributing to production and customer service efforts that drive store sales and profitability.

This role not only demands a deep understanding of the adult beverage market and compliance with state laws but also exceptional people skills to foster a collaborative work environment. The manager must demonstrate the company’s core values daily, including respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. With a focus on creating positive impressions on both customers and associates, this position requires tactful problem-solving abilities, a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized department, and the capacity to lead by example.

Key responsibilities include scheduling and conducting regular tastings to engage customers and promote products, managing inventory and merchandising according to weekly plans, ensuring accurate pricing and order entries, and maintaining communication with store management about sales opportunities. The manager also oversees adherence to operational standards and safety protocols, coaches team members to optimize their performance, and leads performance reviews and feedback sessions.

This full-time role requires candidates who are detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working weekends and holidays. A minimum age of 21 is necessary due to the nature of alcohol sales regulations. Practical experience in grocery retail or as a backup manager is highly desirable. Candidates must be equipped with effective communication skills, decision-making capabilities, and the mathematical proficiency to handle discounts and pricing calculations accurately.

King Soopers supports its employees through comprehensive benefits catering to physical, emotional, and financial well-being. Associates enjoy flexible scheduling, paid time off, healthcare coverage options, and tuition reimbursement programs. Continual growth is encouraged through extensive training resources and career development pathways, making this role an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance within a respected grocery organization that values diversity, inclusion, and community involvement.
