The Beauty Advisor (BA) role at Ulta Beauty is crucial in delivering an exceptional experience for all guests. The BA is responsible for engaging with each guest to understand their individual needs, providing personalized service that enhances the overall shopping experience. This includes conducting cashier duties, keeping merchandise well stocked and organized, maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment, and supporting store leadership in achieving sales and service goals. The position demands a passion for the beauty industry, a dedication to outstanding guest service, and the ability to quickly learn and effectively communicate product knowledge.

Beauty Advisors actively contribute to store performance by helping to meet or exceed retail and service sales targets, guest loyalty goals, omni-channel sales, and retail shrink objectives. They ensure every guest receives personalized attention, answering questions, explaining promotions, recommending complementary products or services, and handling customer service needs such as refunds and exchanges professionally and courteously. The role also involves performing makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to stimulate sales and elevate the guest experience further. Beauty Advisors play a vital role in supporting the execution of in-store services and events, booking appointments, and helping promote Ulta Beauty’s offerings.

Additionally, Beauty Advisors participate in ongoing training programs to keep their product knowledge sharp across various brands and categories, enabling continuous professional development. They are expected to maintain strict adherence to Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and dress code, uphold outstanding store standards including cleanliness of all store areas, and support inventory and merchandising initiatives by participating in merchandise resets, planograms, advertisements displays, and shipment processing.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a passion for guest service and competency in selling
  • Proficient with basic technology such as point of sale system and Apple devices
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store's goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel sales, and retail shrink
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting and engaging, personalizing service, answering product questions, informing about promotions, and recommending products
  • Courteously handle customer service, sales, refunds, exchanges, and assist with online orders
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest service
  • Book appointments for services and support in-store events to deliver an unrivaled guest experience
  • Stay informed on new and existing products and services, including ingredients and benefits
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance
  • Contribute to an inclusive environment supporting teammates, peers, and guests
  • Share guest loyalty program benefits including credit and Ulta Beauty app with guests
  • Collaborate with managers and associates to help grow the business
  • Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance
