The role of Bartender / Server at Pal's - Hayden Island is a dynamic cross-trained position designed for individuals who thrive in the fast-paced restaurant and bar environment. This position uniquely blends the responsibilities of bartending and floor service, allowing associates to engage with guests both behind the bar and at dining tables. Hired team members will be responsible for delivering attentive and friendly service, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and efficiently managing high volume shifts with professionalism and enthusiasm. Ideal candidates are expected to exhibit a strong guest service orientation, reliability, and the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods. This bartending/server role not only requires culinary and beverage knowledge but also a passion for creating an engaging and positive guest experience.

In this role, the Bartender / Server will greet guests, take and process food and beverage orders accurately, and ensure timely delivery of orders while building rapport with returning patrons through personalized drink and menu recommendations. Maintaining knowledge of Pal's cocktail, beer, and wine offerings is essential to suggest choices aligning with guest preferences. The position also involves maintaining the cleanliness and stock of the bar, tables, and service areas throughout each shift, as well as ensuring that equipment remains in proper working order.

Cash handling and POS system operation constitute key components of the job, where accuracy and adherence to company policies are paramount. Furthermore, adherence to all local and state liquor laws, including verifying guest identification for alcohol service, is mandatory to maintain compliance and ensure responsible service. Collaboration within a team setting is encouraged, as Bartender / Server will work side by side with bartenders, servers, food runners, and kitchen staff, supporting one another, especially during peak times and assisting with onboarding new team members when necessary.

The role requires maintaining a calm and professional demeanor while addressing any guest concerns or issues, escalating them to management when appropriate. Safety, sanitation, and cleanliness guidelines are strictly followed, with team members assisting in event setup and breakdown when required. Job Duties

  • Provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service to guests at the bar and tables
  • Greet guests, take food and beverage orders, and ensure accurate, timely delivery
  • Build relationships with regulars and offer thoughtful menu and drink recommendations
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues with professionalism
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to Pal's standards
  • Enter orders accurately into the POS system
  • Maintain strong knowledge of menu items and special menus and offerings
  • Keep bar, tables, and service areas clean, organized, and stocked
  • Clean glassware, bar tools, and surfaces throughout each shift
  • Ensure bar and service equipment is properly maintained
  • Process payments accurately and responsibly
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions in accordance with company procedures
  • Verify guest identification and follow all state and local liquor laws
  • Adhere to company policies regarding alcohol service and food safety
  • Work effectively with bartenders, servers, food runners, and kitchen staff
  • Support team members during busy shifts and assist with training when needed
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate
  • Maintain a calm, positive attitude during high-volume or challenging situations
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
