The Bartender role at Bloomingdale's is a vital position within the full-service restaurant environment, responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality by preparing and serving alcoholic beverages in compliance with company policies and government regulations. This full-time position requires a bartender who is knowledgeable, attentive, and committed to ensuring the responsible service of alcohol. The primary duties include adhering strictly to laws related to the minimum age for alcohol consumption, refusing service to intoxicated individuals, and upholding health and safety standards as mandated by federal, state, and local authorities.

Bartenders at Bloomingdale's are expected to follow the company’s Food Division Standards, maintain clean workspaces and equipment, and prepare beverages according to established recipes and display standards. A strong understanding of various alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, and spirits is essential. Additionally, the role involves educating customers about menu offerings, providing samples, and handling multiple customers efficiently while communicating any concerns to management.

Financial accuracy is another important aspect of the position, with bartenders accountable for balancing and recording all sales, managing charge slips and cash, and operating POS systems accurately. Opening and closing duties include following checklists and verifying task completion with the manager on duty. Stock management and product presentation standards must also be consistently maintained.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of related experience, with bartending certifications preferred but not mandatory. Working knowledge of hospitality industry practices, flexibility to work retail hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and being at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol are essential prerequisites.

Physical demands of the job include prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent use of office equipment, and the ability to lift/move items up to 25 pounds. Bartenders must also have good vision and be able to handle cash transactions with accuracy.
