Job Description
South Bar & Kitchen is a vibrant dining establishment that celebrates contemporary Southern American cuisine with a special emphasis on Cajun and Creole flavors. Known for its warm, communal atmosphere, the restaurant invites guests to experience a unique blend of rich culinary traditions and modern hospitality. Located in a lively setting that features a community patio with a beautifully adorned centerpiece tree and a traditional meat smoker, South Bar & Kitchen crafts not just meals but memorable experiences. The focus here is on bringing people together, fostering a sense of community and shared enjoyment over great food and beverages.
As part of the esteemed Thompson Hospitality family, one of the largest restaurant, food service, and facilities management companies in the United States, South Bar & Kitchen benefits from more than three decades of expertise and a strong foundation in ethical business practices. Thompson Hospitality is committed to values centered on integrity, excellence, and respect, which are deeply embedded in every aspect of their operations and have helped build lasting relationships with clients, guests, and communities alike. Employees at South Bar & Kitchen are welcomed into a dynamic, inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and fair employment practices are a priority.
The role of Bartender at South Bar & Kitchen is a crucial one, offering an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about mixology and guest service. This position emphasizes creativity and precision in cocktail preparation, allowing bartenders to craft unique drinks that perfectly complement the distinctive Cajun and Creole flavors featured in the kitchen. The bartender is not just a drink maker but an ambassador of the space, engaging guests with friendly and knowledgeable service, presenting drink suggestions, and contributing to a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to cocktail crafting, bartenders at South Bar & Kitchen are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized bar environment, ensuring all glassware and equipment are handled with care, and abiding by legal requirements such as age verification and responsible alcohol service. The role requires working flexible shifts, including weekends and some holidays, and demands the ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure in a busy, fast-paced setting.
This position is suitable for individuals with at least six months of bartending experience or similar roles in hospitality. Essential qualities include strong communication skills, the ability to perform basic math calculations for handling transactions accurately, and a willingness to uphold the highest standards of customer service and safety. Physical requirements call for endurance to stand and move extensively during shifts, manual dexterity for drink preparation and glass handling, and the strength to lift heavier items like kegs or ice bins.
South Bar & Kitchen offers an enriching work experience, where bartenders can develop their craft, engage with diverse guests, and be part of a team that values respect, quality, and community connection. With competitive benefits and a supportive management team, this role represents more than just a job—it is an opportunity to thrive in a respected company dedicated to doing the right thing and providing the best experience possible to both guests and employees.
