Job Description

Courtyard by Marriott Brownsville, TX 78520, is part of MCR, the third-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States. Founded in 2006, MCR has grown its portfolio to include 148 premium-branded hotels with more than 22,000 guestrooms across 37 states and 106 cities. As a company with over 7,000 team members, MCR operates a diverse range of hotels under nine Marriott brands, eight Hilton brands, and several independent hotels. Recognized for its innovation and excellence within the hospitality industry, MCR was named one of Fast Company's 10 Most Innovative Travel Companies of 2020 and has earned multiple prestigious awards such as the Marriott Partnership Circle Award and the Hilton Legacy Award for Top Performer. The company also prides itself on its commitment to quality and guest satisfaction, as evidenced by accolades received for specific properties like the TWA Hotel at New York's JFK Airport, which won notable development and architectural design awards.

The Bartender role at Courtyard by Marriott Brownsville offers a dynamic and engaging opportunity to join a top-tier hospitality team dedicated to providing exceptional guest experiences. This position is central to the hotel's restaurant and bar operations, requiring a friendly and energetic individual who can deliver customized beverage service with professionalism and a warm demeanor. Responsibilities for this role include greeting guests upon arrival, explaining food and beverage options clearly, maintaining a clean and well-organized bar area, and ensuring an excellent overall guest experience through effective communication and multitasking skills.

Bartenders at Courtyard by Marriott Brownsville are expected to contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere where guests feel valued and relaxed. Key duties include stocking the bar with necessary supplies like beer, wine, spirits, condiments, and garnishes, as well as preparing drinks using standard recipes while practicing portion control. The role demands adherence to food safety policies, accurate use of point-of-sale systems, cash handling and management, and participation in departmental meetings. Additionally, bartenders must support the operational needs of the hotel by assisting in cleaning duties, maintaining menu knowledge, and collaborating with service and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

This role emphasizes values such as cleanliness, friendliness, teamwork, and product quality, aligning with MCR's universal role standards. The physical demands include considerable standing, walking, repetitive hand motions, and occasional lifting of supplies. Success in the role is measured by guest satisfaction scores, management performance ratings, and the ability to maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness and product consistency. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability during days, nights, weekends, and holidays, highlighting the fast-paced and service-oriented nature of the hospitality industry.

Courtyard by Marriott Brownsville offers a supportive work environment with opportunities for career advancement and growth within the larger MCR company. In addition to competitive pay, team members enjoy benefits such as hotel discounts, paid time off, retirement options, and health insurance available to full-time employees after 30 days.
