Marriott Del Mar is part of the prestigious Marriott International brand, renowned worldwide for its commitment to quality hospitality and exceptional guest experiences. Situated in the vibrant Del Mar area, the hotel combines luxury accommodations with a welcoming atmosphere, catering to both leisure and business travelers. Known for its elegant design, comprehensive amenities, and attentive service, Marriott Del Mar continuously strives to uphold Marriott's high standards of hospitality.
The bartender position at Marriott Del Mar is integral to shaping the guest experience through outstanding service, extensive product knowledge, and engaging hospitality. This role requires a dynamic individual skilled in crafting beverages, managing bar operations, and fostering a friendly and lively environment that encourages guest satisfaction and loyalty. Whether working independently or supporting a team, the bartender's presence directly affects the energy and pace of service, contributing to both the food and beverage revenue and the overall reputation of the brand.
The bartender's responsibilities extend beyond simply mixing drinks. They include maintaining bar inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the cleanliness and attractive presentation of the bar area. This role demands attention to detail in garnishing drinks and preparing appetizers, as well as the ability to manage financial transactions accurately. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong mixology skills with an extensive knowledge of various beverages, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The position requires multitasking capabilities and the ability to remain composed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
In addition to technical skills, Marriott Del Mar values a guest-focused attitude and a proactive approach to hospitality. Bartenders are expected to uphold cleanliness, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards while engaging guests warmly from the moment they approach the bar. Leadership qualities are also important, particularly for those functioning in a lead capacity where responsibility includes supervising associates, assigning work, and ensuring team performance during supervisory absences.
This part-time position offers a competitive pay starting at $17.75 per hour plus tips, reflecting the importance Marriott places on rewarding skilled hospitality professionals. Candidates must meet state and local age requirements for serving alcohol and hold valid TIPS certification or its equivalent. Prior bartending experience within hotels, bars, or restaurant settings is preferred, alongside familiarity with cash handling, POS systems, and bar setup/teardown procedures. The ability to work independently or collaboratively within a larger service team is essential.
Marriott Del Mar is committed to Equal Opportunity Employment, fostering an inclusive workplace that prohibits discrimination and harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, military service, or any other protected status. The hotel provides a positive work environment aligned with Marriott's values of mutual respect and diversity.
This role is an excellent opportunity for energy-driven individuals passionate about hospitality and mixology to join a renowned brand that invests in its people and the guest experience. With a focus on delivering superior service and creating memorable moments for guests, the bartender position is crucial to the hotel's ongoing success and reputation in the Del Mar community.
