We are currently seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our dynamic team as bartenders. This role plays a critical part in elevating the guest experience by providing excellent beverage service in a fast-paced, entertaining environment. Whether full-time or part-time, bartenders at Presque Isle Downs & Casino are vital in delivering high-quality service, expertly mixing drinks, and ensuring every guest feels valued and satisfied. Candidates must be prepared for full availability including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the vibrant and ever-active nature of the casino. This position demands a balance of technical beverage knowledge and exceptional customer service skills. Bartenders are responsible for mixing and serving a wide variety of beverages including fine wines, craft cocktails, liquors, and beers, all while adhering to safety and quality standards. Maintaining cleanliness and organization behind the bar, handling cashiering duties, inventory management, and upholding health codes are integral to this role.
In addition to beverage preparation, bartenders may also perform duties such as taking and delivering food orders, bussing tables, and assisting with other assigned tasks when necessary. The role requires effective communication skills as bartenders will regularly engage with guests, servers, and other staff members to ensure smooth and delightful service. Candidates should possess or be willing to obtain relevant licensing prior to employment. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, as well as the stamina to stand and move efficiently for long periods during shifts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
- Must have at least one year of bartending experience or equivalent education
- Must be able to work full availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be physically capable of performing job duties including lifting up to 40 pounds
- Must maintain professional appearance and positive attitude
- Must pass any required licensing and training
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Job Qualifications
- One year bartending experience or degree from an accredited bartender school preferred
- Proven customer service abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of mixing a variety of cocktails
- Extensive product knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine
- Ability to expand beverage knowledge as required by management
- Ability to operate cash register (POS system)
- Ability to work varied hours including holidays and weekends
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods
- Positive demeanor and professional appearance
- Ability to learn and be tested on new products and service techniques
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to obtain appropriate licensing
Job Duties
- Mix, prepare, and serve a variety of beverages including liquors, beers, and fine wines
- Communicate and sell beverage options to guests and staff
- Maintain accurate records for cashiering and inventory
- Clean and organize bar equipment, glassware, and service areas
- Take and deliver food orders when needed
- Bus tables and assist in general cleaning
- Perform additional assigned tasks as required
