Job Description
Hotel Oceana Santa Monica is a premier oceanfront, all-suite hotel located in the heart of Santa Monica, California. As the #1 hotel in Los Angeles, as voted by Travel and Leisure, Hotel Oceana prides itself on offering guests an unparalleled luxury experience. The hotel underwent a significant $35 million transformation and reopened in July 2019, showcasing modern elegance and offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. This unique establishment integrates Southern California's natural beauty with upscale amenities, creating a serene yet vibrant environment for both leisure travelers and business guests. Hotel Oceana’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its thoughtfully designed spaces, superior customer service, and an inviting atmosphere that embodies the essence of coastal luxury. The hotel’s all-suite accommodations provide spacious, stylish, and comfortable living spaces that cater to discerning travelers looking for a sophisticated stay in one of Santa Monica’s most coveted locations.
The role of Bartender at Hotel Oceana’s newly renovated restaurant is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about craft beverages and exceptional customer service. The restaurant, recently relaunched with a fresh concept and design by renowned designer Martin Brudnizki, offers a vibrant dining experience inspired by Santa Monica’s lush natural surroundings. Bartenders at this establishment are integral to delivering a memorable Southern California dining experience characterized by inventive menus, artfully prepared plates, craft cocktails, and a curated wine list. The position involves working full-time within a hospitality schedule that meets operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, which is typical in the luxury hotel and fine dining industry.
As a Bartender, you will be responsible for enhancing guest satisfaction by providing exceptional beverage service to both dine-in clientele and room service patrons. You will consistently verify customer identification and age to comply with legal standards while preparing and serving high-quality alcoholic beverages. The role requires accuracy in handling payments, cleanliness in maintaining bar tools and glassware, and diligence in balancing cash receipts to ensure accurate sales records. Your friendly and professional demeanor will help create a warm and welcoming environment, fostering positive interactions with guests and colleagues alike. Problem-solving communication skills will be essential as you tactfully address and escalate any guest feedback or concerns, collaborating effectively with servers, fellow bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
Candidates are expected to have at least one year of bartending experience, preferably within a fine dining environment, which will enable a swift acclimation to the role’s responsibilities. Adherence to the hotel’s dress and grooming standards, including wearing the appropriate uniform and maintaining a polished appearance, is required to uphold the establishment’s sophisticated brand image. Hotel Oceana also offers a competitive benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, a 401(k) retirement savings account, and basic life insurance options. New employees benefit from vacation accruals, paid sick leave, and holiday pay for eligible holidays, supporting a balanced work-life experience.
Hotel Oceana is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to inclusive hiring practices that comply with applicable state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance. This position invites enthusiastic and motivated professionals to join a team dedicated to delivering a high standard of guest service and an exceptional hospitality experience at one of Los Angeles’ most esteemed hotels.
