The Bartender role at Oak View Group involves providing exceptional beverage service, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Bartenders play a key part in delivering an outstanding guest experience by being personable, professional, and attentive. This position is vital to supporting the venue’s operations during various events, requiring flexibility and reliability with attendance and scheduling. As a Bartender at OVG, employees must maintain high standards of guest service, uphold uniform policies, and closely follow established protocols for beverage preparation and service. Knowledge of a wide variety of beer, wine, and spirits is essential, along with the ability to upsell and educate guests about their options. Compliance with all state and federal regulations related to alcohol service, including age verification and responsible pouring, is mandatory. Bartenders are also expected to manage challenging guest interactions professionally, including de-escalating situations involving intoxication and adhering to company procedures for contacting management or security when necessary.
Beyond beverage service, Bartenders contribute to the operational efficiency of the bar by managing inventory, handling cash accurately, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of their workstations and equipment. The role requires team collaboration, adaptability to changing conditions, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and long hours as dictated by event schedules. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months or more bartending experience
- Knowledge of various beverage types including beer, wine and spirits
- Ability to comply with all state and federal alcohol service regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Accurate cash handling ability
- Ability to de-escalate guest situations and handle difficult interactions professionally
Job Qualifications
- Six months or more experience bartending
- Accurate cash handling skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and long hours
- Bartending school preferred
Job Duties
- Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards
- Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described
- Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol
- Responsible to learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available, and be able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests
- Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size
- Check guest’s ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages
- Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required
- Listening and responding to any customer requests or concerns
- Bartenders are expected to de-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security as required if guest becomes confrontational
- Contact a management member if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making
- Request additional product or restock product as required
- Handling cash accurately and being responsible for issued bank at his/her bar
- Maintain clean and sanitary work station at all times
- Ensures bar equipment is clean & well maintained
- Other duties as assigned such as set-up and breakdown of bar equipment and assisting with organization of the cooler
