The Bartender role at Mainsail Lodging & Development is a critical part of the guest experience. Working in a high-volume bar or restaurant setting, the bartender will deliver drinks efficiently while engaging warmly with guests. They are responsible for recommending beverages based on guest preferences, offering an enhanced and personalized bar experience. This role demands outstanding customer service skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Bartenders at Mainsail contribute to the overall flow of service, including assisting with food running and maintaining stock levels to guarantee seamless bar operations.
In addition to hands-on service duties, bartenders uphold the standard of cleanliness by washing glasses, tools, and utensils, ensuring the bar area remains presentable and sanitary at all times. Awareness of the current menu, including ingredients and preparation methods, allows the bartender to provide knowledgeable recommendations that align with guest expectations. Handling payments securely and accurately is a key responsibility, emphasizing the need for meticulous cash handling practices.
This full-time position requires the bartender to possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of bartending experience in a fast-paced environment. General knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology fundamentals is essential. The ability to quickly adapt, multitask, and maintain composure during busy periods creates a foundation for success in this role. Physical demands include standing or sitting for extended periods, bending, and lifting items up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a high volume setting
- Strong general knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate technology including POS and tablets
- Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous hospitality experience
- 2 years of bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant
- General knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology fundamentals
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to use technology such as tablets, iPads, computers, and POS
- Experience working on a team
- Ability to work quickly in a clean, organized, and effective manner

Job Duties
- Serve guests in an efficient manner while following steps of service, preparing cocktails, pouring beer and wine, and making beverage recommendations
- Food running to serve bar and bar area guests
- Prep and stock bar for appropriate service period to ensure successful bar service
- Clean glasses, tools, utensils, and bar equipment
- Maintain knowledge of current menu offerings, including ingredients, preparations, and accompaniments
- Curate guests' bar experience by making recommendations based on guest preferences and needs
- Maintain knowledge of beverages including beer, wine, and liquor
- Collect and process payment for food and beverages served, making sure to follow proper cash handling procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area and coolers
- Other necessary duties as reasonably assigned
