Compass Group invites enthusiastic and experienced bartenders to join its vibrant team at the University of Miami. This position is an on-call bartender role that offers a flexible schedule including weekday and weekend shifts, making it ideal for individuals seeking part-time, adaptable work hours. The bartender will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages, adhering strictly to state, federal, and corporate liquor laws to guarantee safe and legal service of alcoholic beverages. Attention to detail is paramount as bartenders must maintain well-stocked bars, prepare garnishes, and ensure all items like glassware, ice, and condiments meet quality standards. Guest interaction requires excellent interpersonal skills, including greeting guests warmly and managing beverage orders with precision. Knowledge of liquor regulations and the ability to identify and manage intoxicated guests responsibly is essential for maintaining a safe environment.

In addition to beverage preparation, bartenders are expected to handle transactions accurately, including receiving cash, making change, recording sales, and securing vouchers. Security is also a key responsibility, requiring bartenders to lock up and store products and cash securely at the end of shifts. Cleanliness and organization of the bar area are critical, along with the upkeep of stemware and attractive display arrangements to enhance the guest experience. Job Duties

  • Schedule: On call schedule, weekdays and weekend shifts
  • Prepares and serves beverages to guests in bar area in a friendly, courteous and timely manner
  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Sets up assigned bars
  • requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Takes and/or processes orders for drinks
  • mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes
  • practices prudent portion control
  • Checks guests at the bar for proper identification
  • Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • Demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed
  • Locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops
