Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in providing integrated facilities management and food services. With a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for the people we serve, Sodexo operates in numerous countries, delivering a wide range of services including food service, catering, and facilities management. The company prides itself on its inclusive culture and dedication to sustainability, diversity, and creating positive impacts in the communities it serves. By partnering with clients in various sectors such as education, healthcare, business, and government, Sodexo ensures a customized and memorable experience for both customers and employees alike. As an employer, Sodexo values each individual, fostering a respectful and supportive work environment where employees can thrive and be their authentic selves. They offer equal employment opportunities to all candidates regardless of race, gender, or any protected characteristic, maintaining a strong focus on fairness and inclusion.

The role of Bartender Non-Tipped at Sodexo, based at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, is designed for an individual who will provide exceptional customer service while preparing and serving a variety of drinks efficiently and without waste. This is an on-call part-time position with a pay rate of $19.00 per hour, ideal for someone who is flexible with varying shifts and has open availability. The bartender will work closely with servers and other staff to ensure that customers receive prompt and accurate service. Key responsibilities include greeting customers, mixing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with proper garnishes, and ensuring that the bar area is fully stocked and equipped with necessary tools and supplies. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves extensive walking, standing for long periods, lifting up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds, as well as performing repetitive motions. Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with team members are essential to the success in this role.

This position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with 0 to 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Candidates must also meet the minimum legal age requirements to serve alcohol as mandated by local and state laws. While prior bartending experience is advantageous, the ability to prepare a wide range of drink recipes correctly is highly preferred. Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment that emphasizes work-life balance and opportunities for professional growth through ongoing training and development programs. Employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package that supports their health and wellbeing, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plans, discount programs, and more. Additionally, some locations may provide site-specific benefits such as free or discounted meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and assistance with transportation or parking costs.

At Sodexo, every team member plays a critical role in creating a better everyday experience for both customers and colleagues. This bartending position not only offers a chance to develop valuable skills in the hospitality sector but also to be part of a company that makes a meaningful social and environmental contribution within the communities it serves. Sodexo encourages applicants to discuss any questions regarding the role or benefits during the interview process, ensuring clarity and transparency. Overall, working as a Bartender Non-Tipped at Sodexo is more than just a job; it is an opportunity to join a purpose-driven organization that values diversity, promotes inclusion, and supports employees in achieving their potential.
