Job Description
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a premier cultural destination that captivates visitors by fostering a profound connection between people and the botanical world. Situated in the vibrant city of Atlanta, this world-class garden offers a sanctuary where nature and education intertwine to inspire conservation and appreciation for the environment. The Garden’s mission extends beyond horticulture; it aims to enrich the community through innovative exhibits, educational programs, and exceptional experiences that celebrate the beauty and importance of plants. In line with this mission, the Longleaf Restaurant within the Garden provides an outstanding culinary experience that emphasizes sustainability, freshness, and the warmth of Southern hospitality. This restaurant serves as a vital extension of the Garden’s ethos, delivering flavors that complement the natural surroundings and uphold eco-conscious principles.
The role of the bartender at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Longleaf Restaurant is integral to enhancing the patrons’ dining experience. The ideal bartender is spirited and highly skilled in crafting both classic and innovative cocktails that exceed guest expectations. This position combines the art of mixology with exceptional customer service, requiring a professional who is knowledgeable, responsible, and attentive to detail. The bartender will manage all aspects of beverage preparation, including mixing ingredients, serving drinks, and maintaining a clean, organized bar space. Given the Garden’s commitment to excellence and sustainability, the bartender must also adhere strictly to alcohol service policies and foster a welcoming, engaging atmosphere for guests.
The bartender’s responsibilities are varied and dynamic, emphasizing both technical proficiency and interpersonal skills. With over two years of experience in upscale, full-service restaurants, the candidate should bring a strong foundation in mixing craft cocktails from scratch and a valid TIPS certification for responsible alcohol service. The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team is essential. Additionally, the bartender must be adaptable, able to respond swiftly to changes, and possess excellent math and communication skills to interact confidently with a diverse guest population.
Physical stamina is important for this role, as it involves standing and walking for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds. The bartender may also work outdoors at times, experiencing varying weather conditions. This position requires a commitment to the Garden’s core values of conservation, excellence, inspiration, integrity, and respect, which guide every aspect of the work environment and guest interactions. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is committed to equal employment opportunities and encourages diversity, ensuring reasonable accommodations are made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
The bartender position offers a unique chance to be part of a beloved community institution dedicated to connecting people with the natural world through exceptional culinary experiences. This role not only demands expertise in mixology but also a passion for delivering memorable service that aligns with the Garden’s sustainable and community-focused values. Candidates with reliable transportation and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts will thrive in this fast-paced, inspiring setting, contributing significantly to the Garden's reputation as a premier dining and cultural destination in Atlanta.
