This role is hourly-paid and involves preparing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, serving food and drinks to guests, and managing cash register transactions efficiently. The Bartender is crucial to creating a welcoming atmosphere, providing guests with excellent bar service, and ensuring all alcohol service policies are followed responsibly.
As a Bartender at Sycuan, you will be expected to greet guests warmly, take beverage and food orders, prepare drinks according to standardized recipes, and serve them promptly. The role also requires maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work area, including proper storage and handling of beverages and bar equipment. You will be responsible for accurately charging guests, balancing cash transactions, and reporting any inconsistencies to management. Responsible alcohol service is paramount, requiring vigilance in checking IDs, monitoring consumption, and managing service cut-off times.
The position demands a blend of interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and operational discipline. Adequate training in responsible beverage service and a keen understanding of liquor licensing regulations are essential. Candidates should have familiarity with wine varieties, cigarette brands, and the ability to operate point-of-sale systems efficiently. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a smoking environment.

Job Duties
- Provides guests with bar service by greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner, receiving food and/or beverage order, mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests, preparing beverages according to standard recipes, cleaning, chopping and slicing garnish as appropriate, opening bottles and pouring alcohol, serving wine and draft or bottled beer, receiving and delivering food orders when appropriate, responding to guest requests, collecting and processing payment, and returning change if applicable following established procedures
- Maintains a safe, sanitary, and presentable work area by securing beverage cabinets and taps, checking beverage products for appropriate temperature and freshness, replenishing as necessary, following correct beverage cooling and storage procedures, cleaning bar counters, bottles and coolers, loading and operating glass washing machine, and arranging bottles and glasses following established procedures
- Provides accounting of transactions during shift by charging for the correct amount of alcohol poured, entering cash transactions in to point-of-sale system, counting currency, logging guest comps, points and credit cards on to cashier drop work sheet, balancing money drawer against generated cashier report following established procedures, and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor or food services management team
- Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed by asking for proper identification from guests who appear to be under the age of 30, measuring alcohol pours, monitoring alcohol consumption, ensuring guests do not become intoxicated following established procedures, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing all alcohol containers, glasses and bottles for each venue at the time specified
