This hiring position is for a Full-Time Bartender at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, an essential role that directly influences guest satisfaction and perception of the hotel’s hospitality standards. The bartender position is integral to the food and beverage department, responsible for beverage preparation, exceptional bar and lounge service, and assisting with food preparation finishing steps. This role requires a person who is not only skilled in mixing cocktails but also knowledgeable about craft beers, draft wines, and other beverage offerings. The bartender ensures all drinks are prepared and served according to Hyatt standards, maintaining an inviting and professional atmosphere in the bar and lounge areas.

In addition to drink service, the Full-Time Bartender at Hyatt Regency Schaumburg plays a vital part in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels of liquor and supplies, setting up the bar appropriately for service, and handling fresh garnishes and perishables daily to ensure product freshness and quality. The bartender uses the MICROS point of sale system to input orders, manage guest checks accurately, and ensure all beverages served are accounted for, supporting the hotel’s high standards of accountability and guest service.

Job Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
  • Minimum of two years food and beverage experience or other beverage experience required
  • Previous bartending experience is preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist in the inventory of all liquor and supplies in accordance with business needs
  • Responsible for maintaining stock and adequate set-up of the bar, cutting and storing of all fresh garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
  • Input orders into MICROS system at the point of sale and create a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, craft beers, and local draft wines with consistency and professionalism
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and lounge area
  • Handle cash register operations, including making change and preparing cash drops
  • Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by the Beverage Manager
