Job Description
Minnehaha Country Club is celebrating its 121st year as Sioux Falls' premier country club, known for providing top-tier recreational and dining experiences to its membership of approximately 720 families. Established as a longstanding pillar in the community, the club operates year-round, offering an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course alongside multiple amenities including swimming, tennis, and fitness facilities. The club also features two full-service restaurants and a vibrant onsite catering and events operation, catering to a wide array of member needs and special occasions throughout the year.
Minnehaha Country Club is currently seeking passionate and team-oriented restaurant professionals to join their team, particularly in the Grill Restaurant, which is a key dining venue within the club. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic hospitality environment and aspire to be part of a respected institution with a rich history and a commitment to exceptional service. The club is looking for an experienced full-time bartender with a starting salary of $11.00 per hour DOE (depending on experience) plus tips. There is also an opportunity to work occasional server shifts, with a separate starting pay rate of $6.00 DOE plus tips.
The bartender role involves various responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of the bar and an excellent guest experience. Candidates will be tasked with preparing garnishes, fruits, mixes, and pre-mixed drinks before opening, stocking the bar, and providing attentive and friendly service to members and guests alike. The position also requires precise handling of alcohol service, including compliance with local and state laws and club policies designed to promote safety and member satisfaction. The role demands strong interpersonal skills, a dynamic personality, and the ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Working at Minnehaha Country Club also means contributing to a collaborative team environment that values organization, follow-through, and ongoing communication.
Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting weights up to 50 pounds, and working in environments that may be hot, humid, or noisy, as is typical in professional kitchen and bar settings. The club encourages candidates to be proactive in learning member preferences to enhance personalized service and to engage in all departmental meetings and training sessions as required. This role may also include some outdoor work depending on specific events.
Overall, the Minnehaha Country Club bartender position offers a rewarding chance to work at one of Sioux Falls' finest country clubs, providing excellent pay complemented by tips, opportunities for additional server shifts, and the chance to be part of a respected, long-established community institution committed to excellence in hospitality and member service.
