Morrison Living is currently hiring for both full-time and part-time Bartender positions at BHI-The Barrington of Carmel, located at 1335 South Guilford Road, Carmel, IN 46032. The Bartender role is integral to the culinary team and is pivotal in delivering memorable experiences to guests. The primary responsibility involves preparing and serving beverages in a courteous, friendly, and timely manner while adhering strictly to state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations. Candidates will be expected to maintain a well-stocked and attractive bar area, manage inventory including fruits, garnishes, mixers, and glassware, and ensure all items are properly stored and maintained to uphold product quality.

Bartenders at Morrison Living greet guests warmly, take and process drink orders utilizing standard recipes, and demonstrate excellent portion control. Verifying guests’ identification and observing signs of intoxication critically ensures compliance with liquor laws and safeguards the wellbeing of guests. Financial transactions such as receiving cash, making change, and verifying charges are handled with accuracy and integrity. Keeping the bar area clean, organized, and sanitary is also essential for maintaining health and safety standards.

Job Requirements

  • Previous bar experience is preferred
  • must have an employee permit issued through the alcohol and tobacco commission
  • ability to adhere to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations

Job Duties

  • Prepares and serves beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner
  • adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • sets up assigned bars
  • requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • takes and or processes orders for drinks
  • mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes
  • practices prudent portion control
  • checks guests at the bar for proper identification
  • detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed
  • locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops
  • secures bank
  • performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • keeps work area clean and organized
  • arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area
  • washes and sterilizes stemware
  • performs other duties as assigned
