The role offered is for a Beverage Server located at the House of Blues (HOB), a renowned live music venue operated under the Live Nation umbrella. This position is integral to maintaining the vibrant atmosphere and superior guest experience for which the venue is known. The Beverage Server will interact naturally and warmly with guests, fostering a welcoming environment that cultivates repeat business and customer loyalty. Responsibilities include accurately preparing and serving beverages using a jigger to ensure consistent pours, selling both beverages and menu items effectively, and delivering orders promptly to guests.
This position requires the individual to prioritize and organize drink orders efficiently, prepare beverages adhering to standard recipes and venue specifications, and comply with all control systems. Safety is paramount; the server will be responsible for recording any equipment failures or safety hazards and for recognizing signs of intoxication to refuse alcohol service responsibly and courteously. The role also necessitates strict adherence to local alcohol service laws, including requesting proper identification for guests who appear under 30 years old. The Beverage Server must maintain House of Blues safety and sanitation standards and complete opening, running, and closing duties according to HOB policy.
Other critical functions involve preparing guest checks and processing payments on point of sale terminals, maintaining appropriate comp and spill checks, and occasionally working special events scheduled throughout the venue. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including late nights, and demands physical endurance for prolonged periods of standing and the ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds safely.

Job Requirements
- State or county licensee or certification requirement
- Responsible alcohol awareness training certification or equivalent
- Ability to work late hours

Job Qualifications

- 4 years work experience in high volume environment (preferred)

Job Duties
- Interact with guests in a natural, friendly demeanor
- Cultivate regular guests and repeat business
- Successfully use a jigger to maintain a consistent pour across all drink/pour sizes
- Appropriately sell both beverages and menu items to guests at the bar
- Deliver food items and beverage orders promptly
- Prioritize and organize drink orders
- Consistently prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications, abide by all control systems
- Record any equipment failure and/or safety hazards in bar log
- Recognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager
- Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance alcohol awareness training and HOB alcohol policies
- Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age
- Maintain HOB safety and sanitation standards
- Perform opening/running/closing duties according to HOB policy
- Prepare guest checks (on point of sales terminal) and process payment according to HOB policy
- Perform check-out procedures
- Maintain appropriate Comp and Spill checks
- Required to occasionally work Special Events that are scheduled throughout the venue
