Job Description
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Community Center is a vital hub that supports the morale, welfare, and recreational activities for military personnel and their families. Located in Tucson, Arizona, this Community Center operates as part of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program, which is designed to promote a high quality of life and enhance community spirit through diverse leisure and entertainment options. The center is funded through Non-appropriated Funds (NAF), which means it operates independently of federal tax dollars and is supported through revenues from its own services and activities. The Community Center at Davis-Monthan AFB stands as a key facility contributing to the well-being and relaxation of Air Force and Space Force members, providing a welcoming environment for socializing, entertainment, and various events.
This position for a Bartender is a flexible, intermittent role at the Davis-Monthan AFB Community Center, paying $20.43 per hour. It guarantees no set minimum hours but offers the potential to work up to 40 hours a week depending on the needs of the establishment. The role focuses heavily on customer service and operational efficiency, demanding a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the capacity for physical activity throughout shifts. Working as a bartender here means becoming an integral part of the community's social fabric by delivering high-quality beverage service in a professional and personable manner.
As a Bartender in this setting, you will be responsible for operating a full-service bar, preparing and serving a broad variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following established recipes. This includes mixing drinks such as Margaritas, Zombies, Singapore Slings, and many other classic or specialty cocktails that may not be pre-mixed. Serving patrons directly or through bar waiters, handling transactions by receiving payment or charging accounts, and ensuring cleanliness in the bar area are all critical duties. Additionally, you will manage inventory, stock the service bar or portable bar used for catered events, and be responsible for cash accountability and proper documentation.
This occupation requires sustained physical effort, as it involves walking or standing for extended periods, handling lifting and carrying of objects weighing between 5 and 40 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment. The role offers a valuable opportunity for those who enjoy community interaction, craft cocktail making, and contributing to a positive recreational experience for military members. Moreover, it requires certification like a Food Handler's Certificate and meeting legal age requirements for alcohol service, underlining the importance of compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Working at Davis-Monthan AFB Community Center offers a dynamic environment where customer service, responsible alcohol management, and operational discipline come together to support the morale and welfare of the Air Force community.
