The role of a Bartender at Cardinals Nation is integral to maintaining the lively and enjoyable environment that guests expect. This position requires individuals who are energetic, outgoing, and possess a fun personality, all while maintaining a professional demeanor. Bartenders at Cardinals Nation are responsible for executing proper steps of service diligently, ensuring every guest receives polite, professional, and courteous service. The role involves mixing and preparing cocktails according to standardized recipes, serving wine, beer, and other beverages, and taking orders accurately from guests and serving staff. Communication skills are highly emphasized as bartenders interact consistently with guests, cooks, wait staff, and supervisors to provide an exceptional dining experience.

Bartenders must be knowledgeable about a variety of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic beverages, including the appropriate designated glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments. Part of the job is also to guide guests through menu selections, promote current offers, and accurately record and account for all orders and payments, including tips as per company policy. Legal compliance, such as verifying guests' identification for age requirements, is also a key responsibility. The role may require working nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of the hospitality industry. Physical demands include handling items up to 50 pounds, moving efficiently within bar and kitchen areas, and maintaining safe food and product handling practices. Job Requirements

  • Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (bar ware, boxes, bottles, etc.)
  • Moving about the bar, lounge, and kitchen efficiently and safely
  • Handling food, objects, products and utensils effectively and safely
  • Bending, standing, stooping, kneeling
  • Must meet state legal age requirements
  • Valid alcohol awareness certification or food service permit as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Basic math skills
  • Reading and writing competency

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 years experience with bartending at high volume bars and/or nightclubs
  • Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods and garnishments
  • Formal bartending training preferred
  • Must meet state legal age requirements
  • Must speak fluent English, other languages preferred
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, cooks, wait staff, and supervisors
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math are used frequently
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Job Duties

  • Provide an energetic, outgoing, fun personality while maintaining professionalism
  • Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of the proper steps of service
  • Offer polite, professional, and courteous customer service
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and guests
  • Mix ingredients and prepare cocktails and other drinks according to drink recipe
  • Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or from guests
  • Communicate effectively, clearly, patiently and humorously with co-workers and guests
  • Complete all side work as assigned
  • Be well-versed in the products in order to guide the guest experience and sell food and beverage items
  • Check guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption
  • Present and encourage current promotions to guests
  • Accurately record and account for all items ordered and secure payment from guest
  • Accurately account for all sales and receipts and record tips as outlined in company policies and procedures
